"It is the best appellate group I've ever worked with. They do absolutely phenomenal work."
Chambers USA 2021
Baker Botts has top-notch appellate lawyers, who combine business smarts with sophisticated legal strategies to deliver results for its clients on appeal. We received Tier 1 rankings by U.S. News - Best Lawyers for the National, Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Houston Appellate categories in its 2020 Best Law Firms publication and are ranked Band 1 in Texas Appellate by Chambers USA 2019. Our practice was also named to National Law Journal's 2019 and 2014 Appellate Hot Lists.
Our appellate lawyers have argued before the United States Supreme Court, all 13 of the United States Courts of Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, and numerous other state appellate courts.
Our matters span a wide range of substantive areas from traditional breach of contract and tort disputes to complex securities, tax and white-collar criminal cases.
Most of our appellate lawyers have served as judicial clerks, providing them with insight into how appellate courts operate and what arguments are persuasive to appellate judges. We are also privileged to have among our practice a former Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, a former Solicitor General of Texas, a former Assistant to the U.S. Solicitor General, and a former Counselor to the Attorney General of the United States.
