Insurance

Baker Botts maintains an active insurance practice, involving both non-contentious and contentious matters, dispute resolutions and arbitrations. We represent policyholders and insurers in litigation and arbitrations involving coverage disputes, first- and third party-disputes of all kinds, state insurance code violation claims and allegations of bad faith. Our ERISA practitioners counsel and represent clients in all aspects of insurance management, eligibility and regulatory compliance. We offer particular experience in defined contribution products and administrative service.
In addition to coverage disputes, we advise clients on a variety of insurance matters, including interpretation and management of E&O policies, D&O policies, CGL policies and EPL policies, as well as disability and workers’ compensation policies.

Baker Botts represents insurance services companies in DOJ and SEC investigations in all areas of the securities laws, including corporate communications, accounting, insider trading, illegal foreign payments, market manipulation and the sale of unregistered securities.

Our insurance lawyers, whether they be litigators, environmental or benefits professionals, have a deep understanding of the industries we serve and that knowledge provides us with the ability to deliver better solutions in the courtroom or the boardroom.
