Kim Owen assists clients with their intellectual property matters, particularly matters relating to patent prosecution and investigations. Helping clients protect the value of their inventions, Ms. Owen prepares and prosecutes patent applications involving touch screen technology, cloud computing, social networks, software, financial services, banking transactions, telecommunications, medical devices, semiconductor design, aviation systems, and structural systems. Ms. Owen also reviews licensing agreements for clients to assess liability and analyzes intellectual property portfolios for clients to evaluate validity and infringement claims.
Ms. Owen served as a teaching assistant for an intellectual property licensing course at SMU Dedman School of Law. While attending law school, Ms. Owen worked as a law clerk for Baker Botts. During that time, she assisted attorneys with preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Owen worked as a licensed professional engineer in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
