Baker Botts Wins for Oxford Nanopore in High-Profile ITC Competitor Case
“This is the second case Baker Botts has handled for Oxford Nanopore at the ITC, and the firm’s third ITC win over the last year,” said Bart Showalter, chair of Baker Botts’ Intellectual Property Department. “We are very active with our ITC trial work and are continuing to achieve great results for clients we represent in complex ITC litigation. This win for Oxford Nanopore further demonstrates the caliber of our experience.”
Baker Botts is among the most active general-practice patent litigation firms in the U.S. and is currently counsel in five ITC investigations. The firm’s patent litigation docket includes more than 150 current patent cases in district courts, the ITC, and the Federal Circuit. Baker Botts’ PTAB Trials Practice has handled over 300 matters at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board on behalf of clients.
“A good ITC trial practice needs to be based on a deep understanding of the ITC’s complex procedures, and to be supported by scientific expertise and sufficient bandwidth to handle the intense pre-trial phase. Few firms in the U.S. can match our scientific, trial and ITC experience. We are unique in that approximately 70% of our firm’s 180 patent lawyers have ITC experience,” said Mr. Showalter.
Baker Botts lawyers involved: Steve Hash (Partner, Austin); Lisa Kattan (Partner, Washington, D.C.); and Paul Morico (Partner, Houston).
